Same-Sex engagement photos in Florence, Italy
N+V //an LGBT couple through the alleys of Florence
If there is something good about this pandemic nightmare, I’m finally finding the chance to post many of the sessions that I love the most. Don’t know if I have not really had the time or if it’s just the laziness that comes over me at the end of the season. Anyway, this is one of my 2018 favorites, a photo session – shot in a September Sunrise through the Florentine alleys – with a couple of guys that I can now call friends. Vinh and Nick are from the US and now live in Los Angeles, California. I shoot their wedding the following year – in 2019 – so basically, what’s you’re gonna see here is a sort of flashback after you already hit them here on the blog.
There is nothing more valuable than a session with your photographer before your wedding if you want to break the ice facing a camera, particularly if you’re one of those camera shy peeps (like I’m). It’s also helpful for me: an engagement-session offers me an excellent opportunity to get to know you better, learning a bit of your own unique way to be a couple. Particularly when it comes to taking some same-sex engagement photos, we – as photographers – must go beyond the whole set of stereotypes, trying to go deeper into these guys’ unique style, using our camera as a tool to search. There are so many layers in an LGBT couple beneath the surface. They are so many layers beneath the surface, just waiting to reveal the joy of being together, which probably has not always been easy, granted, or guaranteed. And that’s the part I treasure more. To disclose something that’s gently covered at the very first sight. If you still don’t understand what I mean, the last pictures are from their wedding, and they will tell you more about them! Have fun, folks!
