A Styled Wedding at Borgo di Vignamaggio, proof that a wedding can be taylored on you There's a version of a Tuscany wedding you've seen a thousand times. Cypress trees, neutral linens, dusty rose, everything. Beautiful? Absolutely. But what if that's not you?...

Borgo di Vignamaggio Wedding Photographer | A Different Kind of Chianti
If you have been looking at wedding venues in Tuscany, you have probably come across a lot of the same thing. The classic Chianti look is beautiful, no question, but Borgo di Vignamaggio operates in a different register entirely. It feels like a place that has finally found its voice after a long and layered history: exclusive, yes, but in a way that is contemporary and full of character rather than stiff or formal.
A piece of history that will surprise your American guests
One detail about this estate tends to stop my American couples in their tracks. This land once belonged to the da Verrazzano family, and their most famous son, Giovanni, was the first European explorer to enter what is now New York Harbor, in 1524. The bridge connecting Brooklyn and Staten Island bears his name to this day. Having your wedding on the very land where that story began is the kind of thing guests talk about long after the dancing is over.
The greenhouse and the theater
What makes Vignamaggio so interesting to shoot is the variety of spaces within a single estate. The winter greenhouse is unlike anything else I have seen in Tuscany: iron-framed, flooded with natural light, packed with tropical plants, and completely unexpected in the Florentine hills. It is eclectic in the best way, and it works beautifully for a dinner or reception that wants to break away from tradition without losing elegance.
Then there is the private theater, built directly into the ancient wine cellar. Low brick vaults, incredible atmosphere, and a mood that photographs remarkably well. It is also, practically speaking, the best backup plan in Tuscany. If the weather decides not to cooperate, you are not stuck in a generic tent: you have a stunning historic theater ready to go. That kind of thoughtful design is exactly what sets this venue apart.
A word on planning
Vignamaggio is a large and genuinely complex estate, with multiple distinct spaces that each have their own light, their own character, and their own ideal moment in the day. To use it to its full potential, and to make sure the flow of the day actually matches your vision, I strongly recommend working with an experienced local wedding planner. Someone who knows the property well can map the timeline around the spaces in a way that feels intentional rather than accidental. The difference between a good day and an extraordinary one here often comes down to that.
How I work: A local eye makes the difference
My studio is small and artisanal by choice. When you book me, you are guaranteed to have me as your lead photographer on the day, no matter what. I am also the one who handles all the editing and color-grading personally, from first cull to final delivery. I take on a limited number of weddings each year because I want to be genuinely invested in every story I tell, and that also means I can be flexible: digital, film, or a combination of both depending on the mood you are going for.
My approach is documentary at its core, with a modern and creative edge. I prefer to let you move naturally through the space while I work around you rather than stopping the day to set things up. The estate does a lot of the heavy lifting visually, and my job is to be in the right place at the right moment.
That said, effortless does not happen entirely on its own. What looks unposed in the final gallery usually has a bit of quiet creative direction behind it: a suggestion here, a small nudge there, nothing that interrupts the day but enough to make sure the moments we get are actually the best version of themselves. It is more like having a friend who happens to have a good eye than being directed by a photographer.
Investment
The figures below reflect my best understanding of the current market for established wedding photographers worlinkg in Tuscany, with documented experience, published work, and verifiable client references, and they are meant here as a general reference point, not a fixed price list.
Intimate weddings and elopements of up to four/six hours typically start around €2,500/3.000. Full-day coverage of up to ten hours with two photographer and maybe some drone coverage typically starts around €3.500/4,000. Multi-day events, with a photography crew, welcome dinners, day-after sessions, and additional deliverables generally range from €8,000 to €20,000+.
Talking about my own pricing, it is fully tailored to your specific event, timeline, and needs, and they may change year after year. The best way to get an accurate picture is simply to reach out and tell me about your day.
